Why Does a Super Lawyer Rating Matter?

admin · Nov 5, 2024 ·

Over the past few days, I have seen several esteemed colleagues announce their 2024 Super Lawyers ratings. I almost forgot that I was rated a top lawyer in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for the seventh consecutive year!

It’s an honor to be recognized by my peers for my work, but the real honor is getting to work with people like you. I work with so many people who want more peaceful and productive workplaces for themselves and their co-workers, regardless of title. You understand that employment is a partnership, and you continue to improve your ability to balance competing business and personal interests.

You inspire me!

What Is Super Lawyers?

Super Lawyers is the rating service part of Thomson Reuters. Each year, the service rates outstanding lawyers across more than 70 practice areas.

The Super Lawyers list is based on merit, not financial investment. This is not a “pay-to-play” award system. Additionally, the service considers attorneys from firms of all sizes. Reviewers consider attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Importantly, Super Lawyers uses a patented, multiphase process that includes:

  1. A statewide survey of lawyers
  2. Independent research of candidates
  3. Peer reviews by practice area

Why I Focus on Workplace Disputes

As a former Human Resources supervisor and Employee Relations Representative at United Parcel Service (UPS), I am dedicated to helping people navigate the complexities of workplace conflicts because it’s an area that people from all walks of life can relate to. Nearly everyone:

  • Has a job
  • Has had a job
  • Or knows someone with a job

Work might be a four-letter word, but it’s also a universal experience.

Do I Work with Employers or Employees?

Both and more. I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients in many industries, including:

  • Domestic Employers
  • Employees
  • Employers
  • Freelancers
  • Licensed Professionals
  • Managers
  • Small Business Owners

Can I Help You?

I’m committed to creating peaceful and productive workplaces. Here are some areas where I might add value:

  • Discrimination and Sexual Harassment. I can provide impartial investigations, mediations, and other informal resolution techniques to resolve current conflicts and prevent future ones.
  • Performance Issues. Together, we can address performance concerns and building stronger relationships between managers and employees.
  • Compliance. Resolve penalties, classification errors, and other legal issues in a humanistic, affordable, and quick (HAQ) manner.

Is Your Goal Growth or Retribution?

If you’re seeking revenge or simply want to inflict pain on someone, I’m not the right attorney for you. My clients are forward-thinking individuals who are committed to personal and professional growth.

Together, we can:

  • Maximize your time and resources. Avoid unnecessary legal battles and focus on what truly matters.
  • Strengthen relationships. Rebuild trust and foster collaboration, leading to a more harmonious workplace.
  • Enhance your conflict resolution skills. Learn effective strategies for handling future challenges and preventing disputes from escalating.

When you invest in ADR, you’re investing in yourself and your future. Conversely, when you demand your day in court, you spend a lot of time, money, and energy asking someone else–a judge or jury–to determine your future. I think that with the right support, you are the best one to decide that.
